API and Data-use Terms

Effective date: October 8, 2026 · Version: dv-api-terms-2026-10-08

1. Scope

These terms add to the Terms of Service for the Dermal Vectors REST API, AI-app access through our MCP server, CSV and JSON downloads, and related documentation. Forecast products require an active trial or subscription and are limited to the products released for the customer's brand. The public documentation, data dictionary and market lists are free to read and grant no access to forecasts. If a signed agreement changes a provision, that agreement controls that provision.

2. Credentials and connected apps

  • The brand owner manages team access, organization API keys and AI-app connections, and is responsible for the people and software acting for the brand.
  • API keys are shown once. Keep them out of public code, shared documents and AI chats. Use one key per tool, rotate keys when needed, and revoke any key that may be exposed.
  • AI apps connect through a sign-in that the user approves. They receive read-only access to released forecasts for one brand. A brand owner can disconnect an app at any time; it cannot reconnect until the owner allows it.
  • An agency working for several brands should use each brand's own authorized access, not one credential shared across clients.

3. Licence to use forecasts

Subject to the customer's plan and these terms, we grant the customer a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to access and use released forecast outputs for the subscribing brand's business planning and analysis. No ownership of our software, documentation, methods or forecast materials transfers. Rights in public or independently obtained source data are not restricted by this licence.

  • Brand and agency use: the brand may use outputs internally and share them with agencies or contractors working for it, on terms at least as protective as these. An agency must not pool one brand's allowance or credentials across other clients.
  • Reports and limited public excerpts: the brand and its agency may include selected values, charts and conclusions in reports and presentations, including public ones, with the attribution in section 4. Excerpts must not recreate or substitute for a forecast feed or bulk dataset.
  • Copies after cancellation: outputs and reports legitimately downloaded during the trial or subscription may be kept for history, audit and reproducibility, labelled with their original issue dates. Cancellation ends retrieval and updates; an archived issue must never be presented as a current forecast. Keeping copies does not include continued hosted access.
  • Not allowed without a separate written agreement: reselling raw outputs; redistributing bulk CSV or JSON data; public forecast feeds; sublicensing API access; sharing credentials across unrelated brands; or offering a service whose main product is our forecast data. Ordinary marketing analysis that uses forecasts is not restricted by this.

4. Attribution and interpretation

When sharing permitted excerpts, name "Dermal Vectors" as the source and include the issue ID and dates. For search outlooks, also state: "Historical search data source: Google Trends. Search outlooks are Dermal Vectors modeled estimates using historical search data and weather-derived DSI, not forecasts supplied by Google or Google Ads search volume." No endorsement by Google is implied. Keep the material qualifications, and use the data dictionary for units and definitions.

  • DSI measures modeled indoor drying stress, not anyone's skin condition.
  • Search outlooks are modeled weekly indices, not search counts, sales, audience sizes or advertising lift. The two search categories use different scales and must not be compared by raw index.
  • DSI uses U.S. Census metro areas (CBSA codes); search outlooks use Google Trends metro areas. They are different geographies and must not be merged or treated as the same places.

5. Allowances and limits

Each brand's plan includes monthly forecast reads, returned data and lookups, plus a per-minute request limit, shared across all of its API keys and AI apps. The current trial and paid values are listed on the Plan and allowances page; the brand's own usage is on the Integrations page. Signed-in website browsing and the data dictionary do not use forecast reads. Monthly counts reset on the 1st of each month at 00:00 UTC; the 14-day trial still ends on its own date. When a limit is reached, requests are refused with a clear code (allowance_exhausted or rate_limited) and no overage is charged.

6. Accuracy, availability and versions

Forecasts are modeled estimates and may be inaccurate, late or unavailable. Every response states its coverage, issue time, validity and limitations, and an expired issue is refused as current (stale_issue). An issue ID always refers to the same published numbers; it does not promise that the issue stays available forever. There is no uptime or accuracy guarantee unless separately agreed. Use human review suited to the decision at hand.

API paths are versioned (/api/v1), and changes are listed in the developer docs. We will email brand owners at least 30 days before a breaking change to the API or MCP tools takes effect, and keep the existing version working during that period. Urgent security, legal or upstream-source changes may need shorter notice; we will give as much notice as we can.

7. Misuse and suspension

Do not bypass access controls or limits, interfere with the service, try to extract non-public software or methods, or use outputs unlawfully. Do not present forecasts as medical advice, individual measurements or guaranteed campaign results. Nothing here restricts rights that the law does not allow to be waived. We may suspend access for misuse, a security risk or non-payment; where practical and appropriate we will give notice and a chance to fix the problem.

8. AI apps and customer information

The customer's chosen AI provider processes its questions and fetched results under that provider's terms; the customer chooses the provider and its account settings. Our own handling of personal information is described in the Privacy Notice. Disconnecting an app does not delete conversations another provider already holds.

9. Other terms

Billing, refunds, warranties, liability, governing law (Pennsylvania) and changes to these terms are covered by the Terms of Service. If part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest still applies. Contact: support@dermalvectors.com.
