About Dermal Vectors

Dermal Vectors gives marketers a daily, weather-based forecast of indoor skin-drying stress across U.S. metro areas, the Dry Skin Index (DSI), so they can weigh where and when to act. It is operated by Dermalapps LLC, the company that developed the Dry Skin Index.

What we provide

  • The Daily Metro DSI Forecast: a seven-day, 0–10 forecast of modeled indoor drying stress for 371 U.S. Census metro areas, issued daily.
  • Access that fits your workflow: a forecast page and CSV, a REST API, and read-only access for your own AI assistant.
  • Research outlooks: weekly dry-skin and humidifier search-interest outlooks are in internal review and are not part of the trial.

How it works

The forecast starts from outdoor weather forecasts. It models the drying potential of typical indoor air, using the thermodynamics of water vapor, and summarizes it by metro area. The method is described in the Dry Skin Index science.

What the forecast is, and is not

  • An environmental signal for places and dates. It is not a measurement of anyone's home or skin, and not medical advice.
  • Not a forecast of searches, sales, audience size or campaign results. Your team and agency keep the audience, creative and budget decisions.
  • Built for businesses: Dermal Vectors has no consumer accounts, and the forecasts are built from weather data, not from data about people.
  • Every forecast carries an issue ID, dates and coverage, so results can be checked and repeated.
